Mid-Summer wrap-up
Thursday, July 17 2008 | SupaDawg | Comments ()
As many know, as inept as we can be keeping up-to-date during the season, it gets 100x worse come off-season, with that ineptitude often turning into riggormortis. So, with no further delay, lets get on it.
Free agency landed in Dallas with a punch, and some stick waving, in the form of oft-maligned former King - Sean Avery. Avery brings with him (in addition to his "colorful" persona) a scoring touch and quick hands that will make him an important asset to the Dallas Stars. Many are quick to point out that Dallas now houses two of the NHL's most hated tough guys in Steve Ott & Sean Avery... Take from that what you will.
In addition, the NHL's schedule landed with a thus today, showcasing a new structure that will see each team play each team in the opposing conference a minimum of once, and in a handful of cases, twice. Hilights of this new schedule see the stars starting the season against the reloaded blue jackets, followed by two games against the Preds that are sure to give Ott & Avery a chance to warm up for the season. The New Years contest this year will find your Dallas Stars facing off against Jamie Langenbrunner's always entertaining New Jersey Devils.
